How Will I Change The World Today?

September 17th, 2020

Our decisions about where we go, where we put ourselves, what we say, what we do, what we think affects those around us. It affects their own decisions, the way they view life, and even choices they make later on. We are constantly impacting. The impact of one person can change the lives of so many people in the world. People like Mother Teresa, one person, changed the lives of so many, and even continues to do so today. These types of people chose to bring beauty to the world. They chose to bring love to where it didn’t blossom, instead of turning away from the ugliness… where love needed to be planted. They chose to touch the lives that were unmoved, untouchable; the lives that had never seen beauty. They chose to be the beauty. To be the one. To be the one change in their life. To be the voice they didn’t know they needed to hear. To be the sight they needed to see. To be the glimpse of hope when the others had never seen any. To be the one thing they needed. To be the one answer to their prayer. Who do you choose to be?

Every day we are faced with a choice. We can be just another one in the world… or we can be ONE among many. This isn’t something we just grow into, but rather, someone we form into. Someone we become. Not through wishing and hoping, but through activating and practicing. We can’t expect a change to enter into our lives if we aren’t willing to change the way that we are living. We need to be open to the people that God so clearly puts into our lives in each moment. We need to be open to when our life flips for the better. Sometimes, we just need to topple over to see life from a different perspective.

We need to bring our dreams to reality. The dreams we have about changing the world that we ourselves stand in the way of when we say “someone else will do it.” But why would such a beautiful thought be entering into the mind of your own? Is it not an inspiration coming from God, himself- One that he believes that you are capable of putting into action? This is why he plants these ideas into your head. Only the devil tries to stop you. Only the devil tells you that you can’t. Because he will do whatever he can to stand in the way of goodness… to stand in the way of you bringing goodness to the world. And the first way he’s going to get to you is through your head. The first thing he’s going to do is lie to you and tell you that YOU CAN’T. To tell you that you’re incapable. Because he knows the root of all goodness in the world, and beautiful actions done, and beautiful words spoken, all comes from a thought. That is why he tries to seep his lies into your thoughts so that he can stop them where they begin to grow; so he can kill them before they get too big. This is scary, but it’s the reality. So how do we overcome him? How do we overcome these lies about the good thoughts in our head? We put our thoughts into action, and we prove him wrong, to make the world right.

Every day you wake up, ask yourself this: “How am I going to change the world TODAY?” Don’t wait for tomorrow… don’t wait for something worse to happen to make the place that you’re in a better place. How am I going to step outside of myself to make the world a better place? What can I do today to love others more than I loved them yesterday? How will I make the world a more beautiful place by living in it; by being a part of it? Any situation could always “be worse,” but it could always be better! It doesn’t have to be the worst it could be to still be bad enough. You can’t just wait for a situation to hit rock bottom to then fix it, especially if you know that’s where it’s headed. “How will I conquer the day with love?” Rough day? Greater opportunity to love; more challenges to conquer; bigger obstacles to overcome. We can’t love if we’re not given a chance to love. We can’t sacrifice if we have no reason or means to sacrifice. Love always requires sacrifice, and the harder it is to love in the moment, the greater capacity we have for loving. Don’t simply say “another day, just not today.” Why would you want to put off greatness? Take one day at a time, one step at a time. Start today, not tomorrow; and be the one. Change the world today into something better for tomorrow.
